I think it is important for the school to take a strong stance against bullying. It is important to have anti bullying programs. Students need to be educated on what bullying looks like. In my role as assistant principal I investigate every incident of reported bullying. We have a bully/ harassment form that students, parents, and teachers can use to report bullying. Unfortunately some students do not know the difference between bullying and someone being mean in an isolated event. I have received a bully form from a student because another student would not let him sit next to the boy at the lunch table. Educating students, teachers, and parents is key in not only identifying bullying, but also in helping to prevent it.
